The Nelson 151 members recognize and celebrate the benefits of their proximity to one another in the pastoral Rockfish Valley. With orchards and farms, unique shopping and lodging options including the four-season  Wintergreen Resort, the Blue Ridge Tunnel, local restaurants, hiking, biking, skiing, golf, fresh air and unforgettable views, Nelson 151 is a treasure and we welcome you!

Rural & Responsible

Nelson 151 member businesses know the responsibility that comes with serving alcohol and our members take pride in ensuring that guests to our area are not over-served and traverse our beautiful community in a safe and enjoyable manner.

Additionally, our members wish to preserve the rural tranquility of the Rockfish Valley by growing sustainably, stewarding the land with care, and protecting the quality of life that makes Nelson County such a wonderful place to live, work and play.

Extreme Green

There is commitment on the part of schools, businesses and citizens to work collaboratively to maintain the scenic, rural landscape of Nelson County. Residents and businesses take the Buy Fresh Buy Local mantra seriously, recycling local investment and materials at every level. The craft breweries spent grain is devoured by the local cattle. Local wind power companies are selling back energy to the Central Virginia Electric Cooperative, whose renewable energy programs make it a national model. A responsible steward of 11,000 scenic Blue Ridge Mountains acres, the Wintergreen Resort and community actively nurture its environment, honoring and conserving precious natural resources.

Not Your Average Farm Tour

From the local food hub, farmers markets, pick your own and petting farms, it is evident that Nelson Counties’ rural economic development strategies support agri-tourism and unique rural enterprise. In the spring, apple and peach blossom and the colors of fall include the beautiful apples in the trees that dot the landscape. There are farm products to suit every taste, with festivals and events year round. Local restaurateurs shop for local products alongside neighbors and visitors.
